Demographic Challenge

Demographic change is one of the greatest challenges facing Chile and the world today. Population aging is a growing reality, with data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) showing that the 60+ population has increased from 4% of the total population in 1950 to a projected 32% by 2050.

This trend has significant implications for the country, impacting social, economic, and political structures as the population ages. As a result, this new demographic landscape is driving changes in public policies, the labor market, and the operations of both public and private institutions. Addressing this reality is essential for the well-being not only of older adults but of society as a whole.

For this reason, Compromiso Mayor was created—an initiative that invites the private sector to commit to the well-being of older adults through concrete actions in the areas of inclusion, respect, and prevention.

ILC and its affiliated companies participating in “Compromiso Mayor” work every day to ensure that older adults enjoy a better quality of life, meaning they live with greater peace of mind, better health, more empowerment, and greater autonomy.
